Lyrical ballads was a clear and solid challenge and response to this literary tradition of Neoclassicism. The volume was reprinted in 1800 by Wordsworth and Coleridge with additional poems too.
In short we can say that Lyrical Ballads marked the end of Neoclassicism(1660 to 1798) and beginning of Romanticism(lasting from 1798 to 1850).
Romanticism is characterized by nature, imagination and the importance of personal experience rather than scientific logic.
